This week – Show Thirteen is here! Just the finishing touches – adding the business cards, applying the way finding, sorting out the portfolios, adding the curated elements, a spot of hoovering, adding the portfolio cover photos, previewing the curated show reels, adding the group photos, a bit more hoovering, sorting out the window display and finally enjoying the private view! Lots of guests, speeches, toasts and awards.
Stuart O’Flynn has been selected as a YCN winner for his Forestry Commission campaign:
and Chris Algar has received a D&AD student awards nomination for his work on the V&A hoarding brief:
Great news guys – congratulations!
It’s brilliant to see Show Thirteen students getting the recognition they deserve! We’ve all got our fingers crossed for Chris to win a yellow pencil 🙂
It’s been 4 weeks of intense waiting, but on Tuesday we received the brilliant news that 4 of our Show Thirteen students have been awarded ISTD membership for their typographic excellence!
In the run up to Show Thirteen, we’re filming the day-to-day events of what it’s like to be a student on our course. This week we pick the last brief (Russian roulette) of our degree from envelopes with Barrie, we have our penultimate crits
(for the Metamorphosis brief) with Philippa, Auction 13 send out their postcards and we travel to Manchester for the Roses Student Awards:
Last night the Roses Student Awards 2013 were held at Islington Mill in Salford. A few weeks back, all of the 3rd years had been working on the Pen Pals brief, producing some great results so we had our fingers crossed.
Whilst the 3 students were busy being excited, a piece of paper was posted to Dave’s board to confirm him as the brief winner!
Karl Sanderson, Creative director of Vivid, was on hand to explain a bit about the brief and present Dave with his award:
Congratulations Dave! As well as the award, he’s won an internship with Vivid! Speaking to Karl afterwards, he said that the entries from Lincoln had well written strategies with strong copy writing and had hit the nail on the head in terms of what they were looking for. So well done to everyone that entered – some great pieces for your portfolios!
Fingers crossed now for those who submitted to YCN yesterday and also for the D&AD deadline next week!
